Hello every one, this is my first topic post and I've built a 35mm adapter.

Pretty much my adpater uses the spinning disc method, but instead of a spinning disc, i used the back part of a Jewel cd case, which seems frosted enough. The reason I used this particualer item is because I can't find any frosted CDs anywhere.

anyways I will hopefully have some pictures of my adapter up soon, and the footage seems to be ok while adjust the DOF of the lens.
I'm am using a Rikenon 50mm lens, and a macro lens on the other side. The whole systems is incased in a plastic box from Tandy with dimensions 110x140x30mm. The motor is from an old sony discman that I ripped apart, and runs on 2 AA batteries. PVC end caps were used as spacers and holders for some of the lenses.

moderate to minimal noise was heard form the adapter but still a buzzing sound.
pictures will be up hopefully later today.

With everyone I know busy in their basements with PVC pipe making DIY adapters, one wonders how much longer Brevis, RedRock et al can continue to charge outrageous prices for their adapters.

You think Redrock and Cinevate charge too much? Try P+S Technik. The M2 and Brevis are a steal compared to the mini35.

While I have the oppurtunity,

ATT: GERMANS...

Stop charging so much for enginering!

Smartcar,Festool, ARRI, and P+S technik: you are hurting our wallets.

Nice start on the adapter by the way, I have built a few and I know how long it takes.
Try cleaning it up and give it a nice matte finish!

About how much money would you say you spent making this adapter?

This is getting great! Look at film budgets. Its like motorcar performance its easy to get from a 20sec 1/4 mile to a 15 sec, tricky to get from a 15 sec to a 10 sec and nigh on impossible to get from a 10sec to a 5 sec. All our adaptors give us up to maybe a 7 or 8/10 quality picture which is damn good, and perfectly functional for us, but when you have big people bitching aboout everything, they would rather pay a fortune and mike sure its 10/10.

Well the camera lens and the mounts I ripped out from a old camera i got from the tip. the motor was from an old sony disc man, the plastic case was about $10 (aus). and various nuts and bolts. So on the cheapest is like $15-$40, cause most of these parts were scavenged from old broken machines i had lying around

here are some pics of it with some handles. The camera Im using in the pics is a Sanyo Xacti C1, an old one but still useful

That looks more like a flashlight than a camera.

But if you can get good images out of it, more power to you.
