I have a newbie question regarding importing 1440*1080 HDV video into a 720*576 DV project (PAL - Vegas 7).
Vegas seems to rescale the HDV footage to fit within the DV frame. I preferred the Premier way where the HDV footage coming into the DV project stayed at it's normal resolution. I would then either pan and scan or scale it back by 53.4% to fit within the DV frame.
The event pan/crop tool is counter-intuitive for me (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it). Is there anyway to emulate the Premier method of keeping files at their original size without vegas rescaling them automatically?

Click on "Pan/Crop" and then un-check the "Scale to fit" box on the left.

I believe those are the names for the things that you press.

It's only rescaled to fit the preview -- you haven't lost any actual resolution. You do your zooming and panning in the pan/crop tool.

What's counter-intuitive about the tool?

Just to make sure I'm not getting this wrong, you're talking about the 'Video Event Pan/Crop' thingy?

I found the Premier way more intuitive in that the preview window showed the relative 720*576 frame. If you imported any image (video or still) that was of a bigger size, that was refelected in the preview window.
In Vegas, it seems to be representing any image scaled to fit a relative 720*576 view. I don't know if this making any sense?

Ahh, it's ok - I've sussed it out.

Thanks for the help y'all.... much appreciated!
