For on-camera self-powered Rode NTG-2 mic, to HV-20, which of these 2 adapters do I need? I assume the mono signal will record on both channels.

This is what you'd need.
If you can affor to run a balanced connection, that'd be a better bet. It'll prevent interference and alow you to run a much longer cable more safely. You'd use a beachtek converter for that:

The cable you recommend < EXF Series Mini Male to 3-Pin XLR Female Cable - 10' > is 10 ' long, and as I indicated, I want to mount it on the camera. And it doesn't answer my question.

My question is - which of the 2 pin-outs do I need?

The one on the left.
It shorts [ground] to [-] on the XLR cable (unblancing it). Then it feeds the [+] (signal) to both channels of the miniplug to provide dual mono.

Thanks Mikko -

In the past, various posters have recommended both of these cables, unaware that they are different internally.
