Hi everyone,

okay I've decided I'm going to get Vegas. I understand MovieStudio8 does SD, while the Platinum version does HDV, AVCHD and P2 (unsure about P2).

Anyway, I'm looking just to edit SD video and am looking at MovieStudio8. I don't know much about this. I know that the guys at the local Wellington Sony Store will just ham it up and say it's great, but I wanted to ask here first. Two questions:

1. Does MovieStudio8 offer multiple audio tracks, or is it like MovieMaker?

2. Does MovieStudio8 give you the opportunity to do razor blade cutting? The problem I had with MovieMaker was that if you did one cut, it would shift all the other stuff in the timeline backwards.

Thanks,

1. It has 2-3 video tracks I think, and 4 audio.

2. It has both modes. By default it doesn't shift anything. You have to manually enable the feature if you want to.

I don't think the Movie Studio version supports P2 btw, but I am not sure. When you buy it, download the professional version's of Vegas manual (11 MBs) because it's much better than Movie Studio's start guide. Not everything applies, but it's better than nothing. Also, make sure you follow the interactive tutorials, they are very good.

No native P2 support, but it'll work with Raylight.
