OK, so I came across yet another shi*ty list...
http://blogs.usatoday.com/popcandy/2007/08/talk-back-what-.html
("the most awesome movie props")

Are you poo pooin kidding me?! Andie's dress from Pretty in Pink?!

Anyways...here are the cool-ass props I would want for my basement bar (if I didn't live in Florida, and actually still had a basement that is).

The Callaghan Top Ten Movie Props Of All Time

#1 Sam's Piano from Casablanca
...Play it, Sam...play "As Time Goes By".
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188573183.jpg

#2 Vader's duds from Star Wars
The lone costume prop on the list...but
what the hey...it's Darth poo pooing Vader
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188573389.jpg

#3 The Ark of the Covenant from Raiders
So I could say, "Don't look at it. Shut your
eyes, Marion, and don't look at it, no matter
what happens..." at parties.
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188574979.jpg

#4 "Rosebud" from Citizen Kane
I will need to put up a "WARNING: SPOILERS"
sign next to it, though
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188575476.jpg

#5 The Yoda muppet from Empire
I do a mean impression
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188576396.jpg

#6 The Maltese Falcon
"...the stuff that dreams are made of."
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188576764.jpg

#7 The alien from Alien
Yeah, that would be a conversation-starter.
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188577860.jpg

#8 The "Heart", "Brains" and "Courage" awarded by The Wizard of Oz
forget the ruby slippers...these are the
chatchkies I want from this classic.
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188579377.jpghttp://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188579247.jpg
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188579156.jpg

#9 The Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future
This prop I would actually have installed
into my Saturn VUE...you think the guys
at Sound Advice could make that happen?
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/6548/1188579497.jpg

#10 The original King Kong
Hands down one of the most ground-
breaking effects for its time...EVER!

Can characters be counted as props?

Anyways I'm going to go with:

Harry Callaghan's magnum
Lightsaber (of course)
Freddy K's glove
Squeeks dildo helmet from Orgazmo

PerroneFord
09-02-2007, 08:36 AM
Monument Valley.

Samurai battle costume from "The Last Samurai".

Capt Quirk
09-02-2007, 08:39 AM
I wanted the Captain's chair from the Star Trek series. I was sort of excited when it went on auction... for about 3 seconds. That is when I discovered the opening bid was waaaaay more than I could afford.

mikkowilson
09-02-2007, 09:37 AM
jpeck; you know, it's not really about the costume.

I don't have a top ten, but here are some that would be really cool to have...

http://www.intriguing.com/mp/_pictures/grail/large/HolyGrail189.jpg
"3 sir" "..3"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/images/hg_indiana_grail_8.jpg
Then again, people have been looking for this one for ages.

http://www.inentertainment.co.uk/wp-content/img/FordWantsWhipornoIndianaJones.jpg
Yes, THE whip.

http://filmovezvuky.fdb.cz/spaceballs/jpg/01s.jpg
The whole model.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/cf/007Scaramanga.jpg/300px-007Scaramanga.jpg
Either piece would rock. (ZFarms, that's not the PPK in your picture!)

http://www.universalexports.net/Graphics/Gadgets/atac.jpg
They didn't really throw it off a cliff did they?

Cars:
http://www.automotoportal.com/media/images/vijesti/061127010.1.jpg
Yes, totally

http://estb.msn.com/i/A0/D3DF9BF282329C1E7F457AB1661FF.jpg
This one almost trumps the DB5

There are SO many cool props out there though. Far too many to list in one post (or to remrber for that matter.)

The doll from SAW

The Batmobile

Johnny Five - Short Circuit 1&2

The Neuralyzer - MIB

The Monolith

Smack dab in the middle of my living room.

(I have a feeling my wife might not go with me on this one)

I would do it anyway. Just say it's "feng shui"

Here's my list, in no particular order:

The Dude's Rug
http://growabrain.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/lebowski_rug_1.jpg

Because it would really tie the room together.

Jack's Axe
http://www.weirdwildrealm.com/filmimages/shining.jpg

Oh yes.

Marsellus Wallace's Briefcase
http://www.filmsink.com/images/s-jules-pulp-fiction.jpg

So I can finally see what's in the damn thing.

The baby from Eraserhead
http://www.sensesofcinema.com/images/directors/02/eraserhead.jpg

Because it would be cool, and so I can figure out what it actually is (hopefully NOT a cow fetus).

Norman Bates' Mother
http://lavender.fortunecity.com/spinaltap/45/mother.jpg

If I had a basement, I would prop that up in a chair inside of it.

The Shape's Mask
http://www.cinemablend.com/images/news_img/4222/4222.jpg

The original one from the first film (worn by Nick Castle) that is.

Billy Pilgrim
09-02-2007, 01:05 PM
I actually read the list and realized the rug is on it. And I thought I was being original. Well, I'd like to think my caption was more clever.

mikkowilson

Johnny 5 would be awsome, as would the boulder (where would you put that?).

Keeping with Indiana Jones...

Also tried on this little number... didn't work, just like in the movie.

Huh? As far as I know, yes it is original. But then, have you ever tried to get something certified? I've seen pictures of an exact duplicate in a picture from a Ben Hur display, and that's good enough for me.

Sad Max
09-19-2007, 04:46 PM
Well...for my part, I don't get stuff certified; I know it's genuine 'cause I stole it off set, myself...

...although I missed Ben Hur by quite a few years. Doesn't matter if it's a nice piece.

Capt Quirk
09-19-2007, 04:55 PM
I'd never seen the movie, until after I bought the sword. I bought it because it was listed as Ben Hur's sword, which I thought meant it was the sword Ben Hur used. After watching the whole 3 1/2 hours or so, I learned that Ben Hur never used a sword in the movie. He used a knife, a javeline even, but no sword. D'OH!
