Awesome Ramsey Man!!! Now its a festival!!!!!

Jason Ramsey

ha, thanks guys.... now you've put pressure on me...

pronounced en (like getting in a car) Utero (like Uterus)....

Jason Ramsey
08-29-2007, 09:42 AM
I just remembered... my wife will be having a baby right around the time this fest goes up :) But, I should be done shooting and have it uploaded before then... hopefuly....

We've got (what we think) is a fairly unique, and definitely twisted little idea. We're in the planning and script development phases right now.

The focus of this project is on cinematography in general. Camera work, and lighting. Areas I need practice.

Probably won't be a lot of updates, b/c I don't really want to talk about what the project is about. If it turns out decent, I just want you to watch it, without any other pre-conceived notions... other than what was already given.

Thanks,
Jason

ha, thanks guys.... now you've put pressure on me...

pronounced en (like getting in a car) Utero (like Uterus)....
"En" is not pronounced like "in." Don't you just mean "in utero?"

Jason Fox's twins (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=105493) should have a cameo appearance. :)

EDIT Just read your above post. Didn't realize you were expecting. Congrats! I guess you'd have access to all of the "in utero" themed pictures/video you'll need right there. (If that's where you're going with this) I'm intrigued. I also see you're not giving any more story updates and here I am speculating!

Jason Ramsey
08-29-2007, 04:50 PM
Jared. Well, yes. But for this, it is spelled as I spelled it :) But, yes pronounced as 'in utero'

Thanks,
Jason

Jason my man... good to see you staring a thread for the fest.

Any clues as to what it's about?

Jason Ramsey
08-30-2007, 01:25 AM
Yep.

I hashed out/brainstormed an idea with my buddy on Tuesday night, then decided to enter. Started this thread shortly after.

Tonight (Wednesday) I wrote a very rough first draft of the script... or really more of a shot layout as it is not a dialogue driven piece. The *intention* is for the story to be driven primarily by the visuals. Dialogue is very minimal. About 4-5 lines at this point.

Jason

Should make it a little easier for us video guys to get sound right... :)

Jason Ramsey
08-30-2007, 01:44 AM
heh.

Actually, I should clarify a bit. Audio also plays an important role in setting the tone. There will be strong emphasis on sound. Just not dialogue.

Thanks, Ted. I almost forgot about my own thread :)

Anyways, I may be shooting this thing with a 35mm adapter, depending on how well I can do with it. I have Brevis REV2 arriving in the mail tomorrow, which I am very excited about. And, I just purchased a used Nikon 50mm f1.4... We'll see.

Oooh! Excellent!!! That will be fun.

I am actually toying with using an adapter on this shoot myself.

Jason Ramsey
09-18-2007, 10:39 PM
Ok. Small little update for ya'.

So, I'm definitely going to shoot with the 35mm adapter. It'll be a good excercise for me.

I'm planning on shooting the thing this Saturday. I'll have to make some changes to the shots a bit, as I will not have the props for one shot. I will change it up a bit, and then just shoot that later. No biggie. It will be what it will be. Not expecting much, but I'll try my best to actually get something done from start to finish :)

Jason, did you cast the fetus yet?

Jason Ramsey
09-24-2007, 12:27 AM
Shoot was delayed due to inclement weather, and the fact that my lights have to be outside....

Hopefully tomorrow I will shoot the bulk of it.

Jason

Jason Ramsey
09-24-2007, 07:17 PM
Well, I'm about to shoot most of it here in about an hour or so, once we put the baby down to sleep.

<insert lots of excuses about different things here, so I don't just have to say that I suck :) >

Hopefuly I'll get something decent. I'll have to get another shot at another time once I have a couple of props that I need, but other than that, hopefuly I can get some decent shots.... we shall see.

Maybe I'll post a still or two later. I haven't decided.

At the very least, I will definitely finish and enter this time and not puss out because it sucks :)

My actress is pregnant also, due in November. I think it adds a more vulnerable element to the feeling of the movie. Good luck!

Jason Ramsey
09-26-2007, 07:55 PM
Ok... here's the BTS footage. It's not for quality.. but just for fun... I had some issues with my qt export in EDIUS... It appears to be broken for some reason... Anyways, there is now an H.264 .mov and an mp4 up. If I get my stuff fixed, I'll post a properly compressed, smaller file size version. About 10 minutes long.

BTS HERE (http://www.ramjetfilms.com/enuterobts2.mov) - Higher Res. H.264 version. 85 megs or so.
BTS HERE (http://www.ramjetfilms.com/enuterobts.mp4) - Lower REs. mp4 version with a bit of a glitch every 24 frames. 57 megs or so.

Thanks for taking the time.

WHOOHOO! Hilarious BTS man! Fantastic! Thanks!

Jason Ramsey
09-26-2007, 10:46 PM
Thanks. Brandon. I'm glad you liked it... I'm uploading a better quality h.264 .mov now... It's larger though in filesize as my export stuff is cracked out, it's the best I can muster at the moment. But, at least it won't have the crazy glitch every one second. Will post when it's finally uploaded.

Thanks for the words.

Jason

Jason Ramsey
09-27-2007, 12:17 AM
Ok. I managed to get an H.264 .mov version up as well. It's a bit large, but pretty good quality compression. It's the best I could do with half of my options unavailable at the moment.

You can take your pic if you care to watch it. First post has links for both versions.

Thanks,
Jason

"So they got a little shit-scoop..........and there you have it"

What an awesome bts! Seriously that was great. If this was a comdey fest I would vote for that. And besides being funny...it looked and sounded great too. Nice work!

I'm really looking forward to seeing enUtero

Jason Ramsey
09-27-2007, 02:37 PM
heh, thanks. Aside from the p2 guy being out of focus, and forgetting to turn the adapter on for the Producer... But, the whole thing was done in like 3 hours from first shot to final edit... And, it's kind of hard to focus on yourself when you can't reach the lens :)

Thanks,
Jason

Simon Höfer
09-28-2007, 04:08 AM
I thought it was intentional on the P2 guy :)

BTS was f'in brilliant...seriously, I think this was just really well done, and your ability to create characters is superb.

I assume that the director is the real Jason Ramsey (as opposed to simply another character). You seemed way too relaxed in that role for it to be otherwise, but tell me if I'm wrong.

Again, that really was awesome...

Jason Ramsey
09-28-2007, 06:47 PM
Thanks. The director was probably the closest. I talked faster and in a bit of a higher pitch voice and different inflection than my normal self :) I'm generally very monotone and lazy in my speech :)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Jason, you know this already, but I'll say it here. This had me (and my brother) laughing out loud throughout. I suspect that combined with "Enutero", folks are going to be referencing this post for some time as a superb embodiment of self-deprecating humour (end of linguistic gymnastics) :-)
