Well, not exactly... but I am familiar with lumenlab. I have made my DIY PJ back in 2004 and served me well for the past three years (it died a sudden death that was my fault and only) The guys there are very helpful and honest with there business.., so it seems. I have bought from them some accessories and the transaction went smoothly. Anyhow, I believe that the particular unit should work fine for a 800X480 PJ. It clearly says that it is limited to 108" screen and I don't see any specs about lumen, so expect to be viewable only with lights and window closed.

hope this helps

Probably the best bang for your buck for a projector. It's a 480p native resolution, so if you're planning to use it for DVDs, TV, personal projects, etc. then you won't be disappointed. The $30 lamp replacement is nice. When the lamp goes on my projector I'm out $450. But the difference is going to be in brightness. If you're only going to be using this in a controlled environment (blocked windows, lights off, or only watching at night), then you'll probably be OK.

If it's in your budget and interest you can find good 720p projectors for around $700.

I love projectors because you get that theater feeling with the throw of the light. It's always made my living room feel more cinematic than the ultra clear flat screens do.

I've heard of them before, but never actually purchased one. While it's certainly a great deal for the price, I'm not sure I would buy one myself.

Honestly, if I just wanted an extremely cheap projector that used $30 bulbs, and it would just be for use at home, I'd just build one of these:

I actually bought all of the stuff needed to make one of these once, but never got around to actually putting it together.

I know its a big price jump but I just went through this and considered that projector and for the features and useability (i needed something that will occasionally be used in some ambient light) I ended up ordering an ax100u from panasonic. The true tilt shift lens is what really kept me from the cheaper projectors.
