Codec for MVI from a Canon consumer photo camera?

I have a Canon Powre Shot A630 and yesterday when I smashed a glass wid my wrist cutting it open in the gnarliest way I documented the whole thing with it... up to the whole 23 stitches being performed by a funny doctor...

...I want to edit it so at least my buddies can make fun of me and enjoy this :)


It plays on WMP but only the audio drops on Vegas

waaait.... I right clicked one in the Vegas explorer and they are .AVI files???

should't they play already? am I missing the .avi codec?

I used to have this problem.

I had to take them into windows movie maker and export them from there.

I think DLing a codec pack may have that in it.

I don't really know...

I should clarify that if you use windows movie maker, you do not need to DL a codec pack.
