Took delivery last week on a SpaceNavigator PE.

This is a great interface tool. Solidworks, Maya, Photoshop and Sketchup supported, so far; hopefully with Lightwave and Modo to follow. Plus, it's pretty much the ideal interface with Google Earth.

I might actually have to learn scripting (or programming, horrors) to get this thing working with 'Ghost Recon.'

I have had the Space Pilot for a few years now and when I work without it I feel totally lost. The work flow so so much faster.

Good call.

I picked up the Traveller (portable) version at Siggraph two weeks ago. It doesn't support all of the programs I use, but it supports some of them very well. Plus it was only $100 and it came with a cool little case.

I have a Spaceball 5000 that didn't get much use due to the lack of program support, but I love theses types of devices. Maybe they'll eventually catch on and be more mainstream.

You got yourself a great deal; that portable guy usually runs a lot more. And, oddly, has more function buttons than does the 'full-sized' model.

Yeah, it's very cool, to be able to work the machine with both hands at once. Probably good for one's coordination and overall conditioning, too (I bet I burn at least an extra 20-30 calories a day, now that my left hand is in on the action...)

Although I wish that it was omni-compatible, in the sense that it would be nice to be able to configure it to work with *any* software. Too much to ask from a programming standpoint, maybe.

I think its Google-Earth functionality may push this device into the mainstream. It's like it was purpose-designed, for that app...
