Is there something in particular I could do to lessen the compression when burning?

I am using the DVD architect template in Vegas but maybe there is a way to avoid re-compression by Architect by rendering something that it will accept without re-compression? Maybe it is some sort of setting in Architect itself that I am missing out on?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

If you are using a DVD-A template then it won't re compress. Are you changing any of the settings in it?

Yes, use one of the architect presets for video (w/no audio) then render ac3 audio seperately.

William, yes I did tweak it a bit thinking I was helping... that sounds logic enough, plus who would believe I can make something in Vegas better anywhhhhay heheh...
Also, which template? I want to go with 24fps NTSC and widescreen naturally but what is video stream?

Advan, thanks on the audio tip! Will that complicate sync though? I have been having a bit of trouble with it already.

Hey Advan, I don't have .AS3 instead I have .AA3 and .AC3

:(

what should I do/render the audio into?
how can I get it?

Render using template: DVD-A 24p widescreen Video Stream and then render an .ac3 file using the exact same name. DVD-A will match these two up automatically.

I tried .AA3 and it keept saying the file couldn't be opened... then I tried .AC3 and it dropped into the Architeck timeline, it also har a weird highlight all around it when I dropped it making me thing it is the right one...

is .AC3 the one?

EDIT:
William, yes, cool... look at my post ^^^ thanks for answering!

It is nice not to have to wait for a second render :)

can't wait to see if the image is better! hope to notice something

well it is hard to judge since I got a stretched image... everything seems to be compressed horizontally making everything seem stretched vertically...

I hate my TV's aspect settings but it is a Widecreen... so I don't understand what went wrong...?

Is your DVD setup up for 16:9?

If it is, walk me through from capture to output. are you working with 24pA widescreen captured footage?

yes, the footage is 16:9 and the project and render were also 16:9... I thought I set the DVD architect project as 16:9 but now that I think of it I had to re-create it from scratch (still figuring DVDA out) and I might have forgotten... if so would it's default cause this sort of problem?

Ok, so I just rendered it again and it looks fine when I watch it with Windows Media Player, in DVDA it also looks ok...

But I can't find the aspect setting for DVDA... ? is there one? I though I set it once before...

I'll burn it just to see if I did something different and didn't catch it when I did it... that way I'll know if I still have a problem before you answer...

Thanks for your help!

So I watched it... it seems that it will play fine but only if I set the aspect of my TV to FULL (which usually seems stretched with Blockbuster DVDs)...

Could this be a problem for other TVs?

I am thinking of rendering a 4:3 version with black bars and adding it as an option in the menu... is this a popular option?

Is your TV a 16:9 TV or a 4:3 TV?

If you're seeing a stretched image, it's probably 4:3.

If it's 4:3, you probably have your DVD player set to Widescreen, which it should not be. It should be set to 4:3 Letterbox. The player will then automatically add black bars on the top and bottom and display the disc correctly.

Hey David! it is a 16:9 but...

It seems to display a non-stretched image when I set my JVC 16:9 POS to "FULL" aspect, which usually crops what I am watching, and again it is being cropped here too, the other aspects also crop and on top of that they stretch it...
