Right now I am looking to buy a new HD camera. I've been reading lot's of material but there's just no defining factor in making a decision. I've got the HD100. I've used the HVX200. I have not used and Canon HD camera except for my wife's HV10 (which by the way puts out an amazing HDV image)

I'm just looking for the best HD image for BluRay distribution. I'd really like to get some input on camera and workflow.

The candidates are: HVX200, Canon XHG1, Sony VU1, Canon XHA1. Is there a compelling reason not to go with the HVX?

Ok...based on all the input here I've made my selection.

Sarcasm?

It really depends. There are so many threads with this exact same question. There is no quick fix answer to this question. Do you need 60p? Do you need 4:2:2?

Do you prefer the P2 workflow or tape-based?

I went with the Canon XHA1 because I preferred the image and tape work-flow. No regrets so far. I can't make your decision, though.

I'd say either A1 or the HVX.

No. Not sarcasm. Actually, after reading many of the other threads on this topic, I made my decision to go with the XHA1. After using it a couple of weeks now, I'm glad I did.
