Ok Guys,
As some of you know, I've made the FireWire Saver in order to avoid breaking your firewire connection on the HVX camera. So far, I've sold over 100 units and everyone seems to be satisfied. (thanks for all your support)
Here is a link to the Thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=95390 (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=95390) (I'm currently waiting new inventory so the site is not taking any orders. Please be patient and I will have some in stock soon)
Now I'm working on a few other projects. One deals with the FS-100 drive.
I've got a few things brewing with this one.
01a - To mount the FS-100 to rails.
02a - To mount TWO Tekkeon MP3400 battery to rails
03a - To mount ONE Tekkeon MP3400 battery to rails
04a - To mount an External Hard Drive for the FS-100 ForEver to rails
06a - To mount both the FS-100 and the External Hard Drive to Railswhat I need help with is, finding out from you guys, which ones would you be interested.
(for those that don't know, the FS-100 ForEver would be a modification to your FS-100 Hard Drive, in which I relocate the Existing Hard Drive outside of the FS-100 which allows you to swap in new Hard Drives as needed. Your down time between swaps is about 1 minute.
So for those long days of shooting, or for those event shooters it will be a blessing. And the price will be a fraction of buying a new FS-100. No more bringing your Laptop with you to dump. or having an extra assitant to dump your Drive to a computer.)
I'm thinking that 04a would be useless, because if you are getting the FS-ForEver then you want the 06a.
The reason why I have 02a with two Tekkeon batteries is so that you can have one battery powering your new FS-Forever which gives you about 5-6hrs run time. (much better than the 1hr you get with the regular battery) And the second battery could power your Camera Mounted LCD screen for also about 5-6hrs. (I'm also working on a 8.4" LCD screen of my own which I think people will agree has one of the most beautiful screens)
Please let me know your thought, and if you are interested.
The more interest, the better pricing I can come up with. If I don't get much interest, the pricing will be much higher.

Lol, that's very funny! I've been working nearly the exact same design for my MP3450 battery! The only downside is that I can't seem to find the materials for it in this area.

well,
as you can see I already have some units working and being tested. If you are interested in purchasing, please let me know.
I'm really curious of what the market is. The units will be less than $100.

Have you also made any of the regular rail mounts to support the 35mm Adapters? A nicely priced one of those would be sweet and looks like you're already there with your mounts...

hey Puckthemad,
Not sure what you mean. I have a RedrockMicro M2. which comes with the baseplate and the rods. You mean for people doing their 35mm adapters, for me to create a baseplate to connect rods to the camera?

REALLY?
No One Interested. I guess I'll just be making these for myself.
Thanks anyway guys,
Luis

Hi Luis,
Thanks, but the reason I'm mainly doing some DIY projects is to save some money on expensive video equipment. I'm still going to make this one myself for maybe a 10th of the price, but it probably won't look as good unless I can find someone to CNC it for me.
Good luck selling them though!

I would definitely buy one of those 01a models siniarch - for under $100, a simply FS100 mount option like this is well worth it for me. Let us know.

oh no not at all. i was simply talking about the support for the adpater itself, not for the baseplate.

ahhh. well, the pieces I'm getting made right now are out of rubber, so it would not work to hold your 35mm adapter with that because of vibration issues. Plus I feel that there is already a low cost rails adapter at one of the 35mm adapter web sites. (yup here it is)

thanks for the link dude. that rocks and should help out alot of us DIYers.
I'd thought your pieces were of alumimum, so my mistake. Good luck with sellign them. It's a great idea you have... I just don't capture to Hard Drive yet....
If I end up getting the FS-100 I'd definitely be interested in these products (primarily the FS-100 to rails). I also stumbled on your Firewire saver and I'm buying one once they are in stock. Keep up the good work; I'll be checking for more info on all your products.

Thanks DCP.
The pieces have shipped, so I should have the next batch of FWS-01 soon, and the final prototype of these pieces also here. I'm trying to get DC to organize the next HVX meeting so I can show my stuff. I think there is nothing like seeing it in person.
But I'll keep you guys poste. I'm finally working on my 8.4" LCD again, now that I have some time. Once that is done, I'll put up a thread.
Thanks,
Luis

Ok Guys,
Here are the new pictures.
These are of the following:
HVX-200 on a Redrock Base Plate
with 15mm Rods
with Redrock M2 35mm adapter
with Nikon lens @ the front
with FS-100 Hard drive (altered with FS-forever)
FS-Forever Removable Hard Drive (allows to swap drives for the FS-100)
(2) Railmounts-06
(2) Tekkeon MP3400 Batteries (will power the FS-100 for 5hrs each)
(2) Railmounts-02 (will hold two MP3400 batteries)With this rig, I can either record for around 11hrs straight, with about (2) 1 minute interruptions while swapping drives.
or
Record for 6hrs straight while powering my On Camera LCD with one of the MP3400 Batteries and the other powering the FS-100.
each MP3400 battery powers the FS-100 for about 5hrs and the Native FS-100 battery adds 1hr to that.
If anyone has any questions, and/or is interested in buying these, please contact me through PM.
Thanks,
Luis

SiniArch, looks like a good design. You know I'm down for 2a and 3a. I'd want a bunch of 3a's for people buying my monitor (a run of at least 10 to start with?) and one or two 2a's for myself. I like those Tekkeons...
I'll email you in a few days.

Great idea. Hardened rubber is a nice way to go as far as slight variations in size.

Bruce:
Thanks, I'll wait for your e-mail. whenever you are back in town, lets get together and you can check them out. When do you want to put the order in?
DavidD:
Thanks. What I like about the rubber is that it holds the item in place pretty well without scratching it. My FS-100 is safe, and so are my tekkeon batteries. Also, it really prevents the bracken from sliding forward and back on the rails. I went to a metal shop yesterday for my monitor, and asked them about making these out of metal. They guy said it would probably be the same price if not more, and then I would have to worry about scratching. So I think I'll stick with these. :)

OK I would like to place an order with you for a pair of the 3a's to hold a single tekkeon to rails.
How much for them, and how long before you have them?
Cheers

Hey Steve,
I can place the order today. Will be about 2 weeks before I have them, and I will sell the pair at an introductory price of $67 for the pair of "3a" which hold one Tekkeon Battery to 15mm rails.
Again, as always, I'm trying to keep prices down, but since I'm a small operation and I can't justify ordering a 1000 pieces because I don't know if I would sell that many, I have to order in small batches.
The other ones I'm going to carry are the "6a" ones, which will hold the FS-100 and the removable Hard Drive (which I call the FS-Forever) for those of you who decide to do the Mod to your FS-100. These will probably sell for $73.
The other designs will be on really short runs, so the price will be much more. Unless of course I get tons of demand for them, and I can order a slightly larger batch. You would be surprised how much the price (at cost) rises when you go from an order of 50 units to an order of 10 units.
That's all for now. :)
Any comments will be welcomed.
Thanks,
Luis
ps:I'll work on the web site this week and have it up soon so that people can order.

Your rails are insanely long. I need some of those. LoL. The Tekkeon's can be a pain keeping on the rails or somewhere else. But that's a good idea. I just don't think I have enough rail space with the 18" to pull it off.
So you're selling the Tekkeon mounts (Just for batteries) for 73 a piece?

hey Kholi,
I just sent you a pm. The set required to hold one tekkeon battery will be $67. Unfortunately, when you deal with small quantities, its the way it has to be. If I was ordering thousands, I'm sure I could bring the price down to $30 for the pair, but I just can't invest that much money into it.

Thanks for the PM! Eitherway, this is a kick-ass solution for the Tekkeon Batteries and I'm just gonna figure out how to work around the shortage.

The best way to get longer rods is Zacuto. The do rods with threads, and you can go 40 inches if you want!

Hey Guys,
Finally finished my LCD monitor. I'm actually using the tekkeon battery with these rail mount attachments to power it. you can check it out at this thread.
