The title is based on an idea that I have.

I'm still going to look at other scripts first so that could change. We'll see what happens...

Either way, I'm definitely doing something for this fest.

Mike

Nice, i liked the way the area around the pupil slowly became dark, quite nice effect.

I dont mean to be critical, but if you set the transparency of the effect to around 80% ish you might get some nice texture of the skin coming through and might make it look a little more organic. Unless you are going for a full on oil effect. Other wise a really nice effect, look forward to seeing it in a action!

Thanks, guys. I'm still working on the overall effect.

I think it will work for what I have in mind.

I'm still working on it and I haven't decided how the final effect will look. I have a feeling that I'm probably going to go with a full on effect though.

Thanks again,

A couple small suggestions on the effect: 1) looks like its using the luma value and, as such, the specular highlight in the iris fills in first. I'd suggest masking out that highlight so that it stays, thus selling the effect better. 2) might be interesting to try keying only the color value of the skin and then applying the effect so you have a separate layer to play with and combine with this one.

The possibilities are endless! Viva digital!

Mark, sadly I did not understand half of what you wrote. :)

I'm just tinkering around with After Effects and don't have any experience with keying or masking. Maybe I'll try to find a tutorial.

Thanks for the advice though! I'll look into it.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks, guys!

It needs some work... I still need to finalize the screenplay first. :)

John, are you writing anything for Hallows Fest?

Sid, really nice music! You are very talented.

Mike,

I have written three scripts so far. One has been picked up, but the other two need some additional work.

I'll bet that working on Fear has given you some practice you'll be able to put to use in All Hallows.

Thanks, John.

FEAR did help me get my feet wet for this fest. I can't wait to create something new though. You learn so much after finishing each short film.

Cheers,

Mike

Actually, I'm really stuck with my idea. I'm not sure which direction to go in with the storyline. I really have to decide and bang out a screenplay soon.

mike! Ha! That damn 500 message limit really is a pain in the arse. It fills up before you know it. I did a little house cleaning the other day so it should be open. And/or you can just send me an email through my site.

cheers!

I'm looking for some SFX help! Anyone here interested... please send me a PM.

I need someone to do 2 or 3 scenes for my Hallows Fest entry. I'll explain more once we talk.

Cheers,

Mike

Any updates here? I would help you with the SFX but I'm swamped right now with my own (noy only that but I'm using Shake not After Effects). Keep us posted!

Well, this one may be canned for now.

I do have an idea for a much simpler entry that should be just as effective.

Either way, I'm definitely entering something into Hallows Fest.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Kyser,

Best of luck with your entry! I'm from the Ottawa area too - and hoping to enter this fest. I keep repeating to myself, "I think I can. I think I can..."

Maximus! We should get in touch...
I have a pretty good dolly that I can lend you if you need it.

Maybe we could help each other out. I'm willing to hold a boom mic or help out in any way.

Ian, don't worry! I have a pretty good story lined up and I'm almost ready to go. Thanks for the support guys.

Cheers,

Mike

yeah, definitely don't give up. I think if you set a blending mode of that black (I'm assuming you're using something like after effects), to something like liner burn, or overlay, and nudge down the opacity, it might give you a more textured look.
