Before compression, but itīs analog and will be redigitized when captured, so either uncompressed or with a dedicated codec...

I know it's after DA, but that still explains some of the anomalities I've seen comparing "live" and recorded data.
I'm currently doing studioshoots through the component to AJA to uncompressed (will test ProRes the next weeks)
It seems to work better for some work. This explains that hunch -;)

Actually, I found that capturing thru component to uncompressed was virtually the same as copying a file from P2 to the uncompressed timeline and rendering. I tried this with some problematic reds and the end result was so similar I found it not to be worth the hassle.
