If I want a film to have a grainy 16mm filmlook, what is the best way to achieve this with Vegas? I'm not talking about color curves as I know how to do that (also got Magic Bullet Editors 2 with Vegas), but it's this film-grain I'm looking after. I've used the Film Grain effect that comes standard with Vegas, but it just shows as 'interlaced video noise', even in a 25P project with 25P material from my DVX100.
Thanx!

Use the grain slider under Film Effects. If all you want is grain, individually select each effect from the dropdown and uncheck the box.

Hi David,
I know this option, but still feel it looks like video-noise, rather than film grain. Or are my eyes tricking me?
(BTW, I saw a new Dutch film today in cinema, shot on 16mm, it has this grainy look I'm looking for. I've got the idea the grain dances different on the screen than the video noise created by Vegas effects.)

Get stock footage of 16mm thats on a plain background..and create a mask from that footage so it overlaps your video and you got your look right there.

As follows in a short experimental film i did. Very old film look.

Thanks Blackhawk, I'll give that a try.
