Mpeg2 Render Problem

Whenever i render to an mpeg2 im having certain problems.

First off it never lets me choose Mpeg2 from the dropdown list within the custom panel. Only HDV. I know HDV is mpeg2 too. But then why is there an Mpeg2 option ?

Secondly (considering i settle for HDV) after the render is over you get a dialog which says completed. Open / Open Rendered Folder / Close. I choose Open folder and i get a notice which says the "Path name D:\Vegas\Renders...whatever.... Doesnt Exist" and it just completed rendering the file. I manually navigate thru windows and find the file there.

Any insight on why these 2 problems occur ?

Render As>Custom>Video>Output Type should give you a choice for MPEG-2, and not just HDV (which is MPEG-2, anyway).

David > I reffering to the very same drop down list which is within the custom panel. It starts off errors. Never renders to mpeg2. Only HDV. And its pretty adamant about it. But i know theres a workaround. Because about a month back i did create a HD resolution Mpeg2. Which shows as Mpeg2, bears the windows media icon and runs smooth on wmv player. But the fact is i forgot what settings helped me get that result. Hmmm ill have to really experiment. The thing is i still have the resultant file which i rendered. Too bad render settings doesnt have a 'match file type setting' button ike the one in the project setting panel. Where the software analyses the file type and sets the project to match the file type. I wish render to had a similar feature. It woudl be so useful to replicate the intended target type.

Any ideas on issue 2. Where its never able to open the rendered to location folder at the end of the render ?

On both, I don't know. I can't replicate the problems.
