With movies like No Reservations out right now (which my Mom said was "cute") And Ratatouille (Got a surprisingly good review from Tony Bourdain)I was wondering if anyone has any great food related films I may have missed. Being a Chef with a passion for film I love when the two are combined. BTW - will wait for the dvd to see No Reservations and Ratatouille-

Here are a few of my favorites:
-The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover
-Tampopo
-Eat Drink Man Woman
-A Chef in Love
-Babette's Feast
-Spanglish
-Mostly Martha
-Big Night
-Like Water for Chocolate

Anyone got any favorites?

Who doesn't like BBQ?

....cows?

I didn't care much for this film myself, but perhaps Delicatessen?

Tampopo is a fun film, glad to see it's included on your list.

For one of the funniest cooking scenes, rent Three Women by Altman sometime. Shelly Duvall teaching Sissy Spacek how to cook for a party by using ready-made foods from the grocery store is classic. You can fast-forward if you like, but as a chef, you'll get a kick out of that scene.

Big Night, Big Night and, uh, Big Night.

Oh, and, because I just watched it and loved it, Together (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Together/60021452?trkid=203955)

And The Sopranos - duh.

And in that same vein, to the extreme, Titus (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Titus/60000445?trkid=189530&strkid=784674501_0_0) (kidding. kind of)

How about Silence of the Lambs... anything Hannibal Lecter, really. The man knows what he likes.

On a serious note, how about Chocolat?

God of Cookery....that looks great and I have never heard of it. Thank for the hook-up Greggl. Too bad they do not have it on Netflix though. Is it worth a purchase?

Doesn't anyone remember "Who's Killing the Great Chefs of Europe"?

Super-Size Me?

Soylent Green?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Or, Rocky, for that matter?

I thought Ullanta was referring to the raw egg smoothie in Rocky...

Super-Size me, not a film that you want to go eat anything afterwards... Or Soylent Green... these are good diet films!

Or Soylent Green...

Most people overlook a very poignant scene in the film when Heston scores some real organic food in the form of fruit and some veggies, and he and Edward G. Robinson (a nemesis from The Ten Commandments) sit down and enjoy the meal of a lifetime.

But as for the green stuff...you are what you eat, after all.

Ah, DeSica, it's been a long time since I've seen that film I guess. Thanks for that memory.

I thought it was touching when Alex had prepared hossenfeffer for the Gallagher family in Fatal Attraction. Who doesn't like to come home to a hot meal?

Hey this thread blew my mind... I didn't think that many people knew Tampopo and there it was... second on your list.
