I broke my camera a couple of weeks ago, as detailed here:

I was lucky enough to find a great authorized repair shop in Smithsburg, MD (near Hagerstown) called Specialized Communication: http://www.spec-comm.com/
The focus ring I needed was on order, but I had the day off today so I took my camera in to drop it off. The shop supervisor, Andrew Hoffman, told me the part was now on back order until January. He offered to remove the focus ring off of one of the shop's DVX units -- an hour later I had my camera back in one piece (and for only $140).
I'm home now and my camera is working just fine (I installed the neck strap myself).
Anyways, if you live in VA/MD/DC (or maybe even WV or PA) and gravity or some other force tries to derail your project, I highly recommend Specialized Communication and Andrew Hoffman.
Andrew also mentioned he could do camera modifications if any of you mad scientists have any ideas, get in touch with him:
