It should be noted that homebuiltstabilizers.com wants to sell you this info. It is not for free.

However, if you look around online you can get all that info for free.

Would anyone who actually owns the book be willing to give their impressions?

The footage on the site was VERY impressive, but I'd love to hear an actual user's account of how easy the rigs were to put together.

That being said, I'm REALLY starting to think about telling Santa to put one of these books in my stocking this year! ;D

If you are refering to the Killer Camera Rigs book, I own it and have built the dolly and am currently working on hte smaller crane. The dolly was a snap, but the crane is a little more complex. Still, it's not that hard because he breaks it all down, step by step. Some of the more complicated projects might be too much if you've never worked with tools, but you probably know someone who could help you out. The great thing about the book (and Dan Rahmel's Nuts and Bolts Filmmaking) is not just that you can build gear relatively cheaply, but that you understand how the gear works, because you put it together. That can even lead to ideas for improving it or coming up your own rigs to better suit your specific needs. It's one of the best filmmaking investments I ever made. Now I never rule out a potential shot because I don't have the right rig. Because chances are I can build it.

I've got the book too. I was very impressed with how easy the directions were laid out. I'd say it was worth the dough to get it. It gets you thinking about the mechanical side of all this camera stuff.

tempted to buy that book but naaaahhhhhhh. I'd rather stay on the artistic side of things and make due.

Great book - easy to build and very clear instructions! Whatever makes your story move along while also being nice to look at, helps.

I've got the book too. Worth every bit of the $45. Especially because I got everything I needed in one trip to Home Depot thanks to his materials list.
