my friends and i film each other skiing, and are planning on making a full length "crew" dvd this coming season and im contimplating getting a new camera... i currently have a dvc30... none of my friends can really use it, and noone ever likes to carry it around because its on the big side and what not... give any of them a cheap palmcorder and they can use it just fine.. so i was thinking of switching to a panosonic HDC-SD5 or jvc GZ-HD7... A. would the video quality be as good, or better than my dvc-30 for filming freestyle skiing and snowboarding.. B. would either be easier to use since they are more of the "consumer style formfactor... also has anyone used these cameras and have anything to say about them?

It really depends on your style and what you want the final result to look like.

If you just hand your friends a couple of palmcorders, don't be surprised when the footage comes back looking less then stellar. These things will have comparatively no manual control. In my mind it is a step backwards.
