Hi Everyone,
I just got my hvx200.. All I have to say and lame as it is, is Sweet! Anyway I have been looking into the Tiffen and Crystal optics 82mm 3 piece filter packs mainly for the UV filter. I was just wondering if one kit is better then the other? Does anyone have problems with UV lenses like reflections in certain lighting situations? I really want to protect my new investment. I never really cared with my gl2 but with the added price difference this time I don't want any grit to end up on the lens.
Thanks,
Tom

The filter of choice for many and the one I own is the B+W, search "filters" or "filter" and you will find many posts on this.

They are not all created equal.

B+W are popular filters to put in front of your glass, and recommended by many here on 'user.

Cheap filters will visibly degrade your image. Why would you want to get a Leica Dicomar lens, and then put a $10 piece of junk in front of it? Tiffen screw-in filters are nothing special, and Crystal Optics is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I recommend not having any filter in front of the lens unless you need it. Many people insist on always putting a UV filter on their lens; if you're going to do that, you should make sure it's the very best possible filter, because everything you shoot is going to be looking through it.

Look at how surprised Timur was to find out how significant the degradation of a cheap filter was:

What is the advantage of MRC vs. plain?
