Ok DIY'ers: I need your help

I hike and canoe on occasion, a.w.a. other outdoor activities. I would like to design a clamp system for my mini cam that I can put a quick release tripod head on and be able to attach to any surface/brace. Kind of like the suction cup window pods that you can put in your cars to video. I invision a swing arm to be able to get different angles. I think that I would like a spring clamp as opposed to a C clamp, as this will give me even more stability and support.
I am probably the least handy guy with tools around, so this kind of needs to be an easy build.
Whatcha think? Doable?
