i was messing around with the camera trying to slow and speed stuff up, but how do you film someone walking really fasy like the charli chaplin period, and really slow? don't you use the shutter speed and boost it up or down to get that effect, b\c i tried it and it didn't work. what am i doin wrong?

Shutter speed has nothing to do with how fast the footage moves. It depends on the frame rate and the timeline that the footage is played on. A 12 frames per second video played in a 24 fps timeline would run twice as fast for example. But since you're stuck to shooting 24 or 30 fps any editing program can speed up your footage with good results.

One trick is to put your camera on a tripod. Have your 'talent' walk really slowly - as slow as they possibly can. Then in post, speed the video up so your talent looks as though they are walking correctly and all the action around them is speeded up.
Or use a still camera to fire off a frame every 10 sec or 60sec and drop those stills onto your time line - great for making a day last a few minutes.

But for visual effects try using Nattres filters. See: http://www.nattress.com/

Hi. Only for converting NTSC footage to PAL - Nattress has a good converter. But the film effects are brilliant. I have them but have never had a cause to use them (yet). There has to be a reason to do something. The reason shouldn't be 'just because you can'. That's here the disciplin comes in...
