Hi all,
If jarred is listening or anyone else can we get a sub-forum in the cafe going for show reels...
Not dvx or hvx based but for peoples work......
So people can show off there work in REEL form not just clips and pics.....
Id like to see a place where one can sell himself and give and get advice on putting together a showreel.
After all you never know whos watching around here. Just makes it easier for people that are looking to find them....
What are people thoughts on this idea????
Cheers
Mike
Why not? Sounds good! Jarred, are you listening? We have festivals, why not add it on the " Jobs" Section? a Musician's showreel section, a Cinematographer showreel, a Cameraman showreel, and of course, a director's showreel... (maybe other's, too, but these seem more interesting...)
Excelent Idea! (with file size limitation, of course...)

Sounds like a great idea, though I wouldn't have a file size limitation, though. Rather than have DVXuser host the files (as you imply with the file size limit), I'd just have people link to their content via the thread they create.
The only problem I can see with doing something like this in the forum is that you'd pretty much have to limit it to one thread per person. And if you did that, those who post first would quickly drop to the bottom of the thread list, and wouldn't be seen too often unless they keep bumping their own post.
Is it possible to have a "user page" attached to our profile? For example: when someone looks to the left of a post to see the info of the person who posted, why not have another button under "location" that would link to an internal DVXuser page for that user. Kind of like eBay's "about me" pages.
That way every time a user posts, anyone reading that thread can get some info on the background and experience of that person posting. If I recall correctly, one of the reasons Jarred got rid of the post count indicators (besides bandwidth) was that people were assuming that more posts means that someone is more experienced or more knowledgeable, when that wasn't always the case. Perhaps a DVXuser "about me" page would help rectify this.

Interesting ideas guys. I'll pass them on.
Note that there is a section in your profile for your website address. Clicking on a member's username in a thread brings up a list of options, one of which is "Vist member's homepage"

True but having something maybe like a catalog so people checking out there for new talent can have a look around here. Theres heaps of great talent and a lot of rising talent here.
I dont think its a good idea for DVXUSER to host the actual footage. perhaps for eg, if you have your own website you just link it..... HTML inserts to allow you to put the video onto the site so it plays... who knows theres heaps of options out there......
Maybe we can get a poll going to get a show of hands........ We could have say catalog for 3D, DOP, editing, and so on. Maybe even for matte painting..... Its nice to think of DVXUSER as a place for the DVX but it would be heaps better if it became a huge hub for all types of filmmakers. from matte painters o vfx guys/girls....
And its good for the dvxuser website also... the more people that come here the more advatising potential for Jarred and DVXUSER.com .........
So what do you think Jarred?
