I just received my camera today, and love it so far. However, when i engage the nd filter to the 1/8 position, a prompt pops up on the screen and says, "nd:off"
when i put it in the 1/64 position, it reads, "1/8"
that looks like an obvious malfunction. Has anyone else ever noticed this?
Please forgive my "greeness" if it's a known issue.
Regards,
Kenny

It's just telling you that it doesn't think there is enough light getting into the camera and is 'suggesting' that you go to 1/8th or off based on the amount of light getting to the ccd's.
Just use your iris wheel and open up your iris or close it as necessary. If your zebras are still indicating over exposure, then you can try incorporating the ND filter and adjusting the iris again as necessary.
When you go to bed tonight, take your manual with you and read through it :)

Much obliged Jason...As you probably guessed, I'm a really wet behind the ears, with regards to the science behind photography, and all that it entails. I bought the camera to learn on, and have aspirations of one day, doing some music videos with it, and independent films also. I will DEFINITELY hire a proper cameraman, or DP to do it for me though! Lol...
I do love playing with it and learning about it though. BTW, did read the manual today. The sign of a true GEARSLUT! ;)
My expertise is in the music business. I have a music studio, and keep up on technical side religiously. I look forward to learning about filmaking, cinematography, and my new HVX200!

No problem. Everyone has to start somewhere. I'm not too far from where you are now...
But, studying this forum and searching and reading Barry's book will shorten your learning curve a lot.
Have fun,

I've already got both bootcamp dvd's, which i'm watching at this moment. Very informative so far. I'm sure it will take awhile for me to adjust to it all, but I'm looking forward to it.
