Definition lowered, but no time gained.

We're shooting a quick interview with no access to a place to dump our p2 cards (we use 2x8gb). When we shoot in 1080/24p, we get 17 minutes. I've lowered our definition to 720/24p, but it's not giving us any more time to shoot - it still says 17 minutes. Suggestions?

Use 720/24PN, you should get 42 minutes of capacity. With non-native recording modes, you are recording duplicate frames.
