The xl2 factory mike has two plugs on it, one looks like a stero plug, so whats the other plug for? Thought i could be tricky and attach a xlr converter cable to the plug and hook the mic up to the camera via the rear imputs then use a lav mike for the speaker getting the crowd noise via the camera mike and the lav for the speaker but it wont work, any suggestions on how the camera mic can otherwise be adapted??

Hi. Re the two plugs for the supplied mic. One carries the audio from the mic. The other pin powers the mic. Attacing an XLR converter isn't recommended. The XL2 allows you to connect two XLR mics. But if you do that then the sampling rate is halved of the recorded audio - it may cause an issue in post. Perhaps consider connecting mics to a mixer and then run a line from the mixer to an XLR input on the camera (switching it to manual so you can adjust the incoming signal strength).

Thx For Your Input, The Xlr Manual Said It Was A Electret Condensor Mic But I Didnt Know That It Was A Powered Mic Or I Wouldnt Have Even Tried It. I Was Trying To Cut A Fat Hog In The Butt As They Say And Make It A Dual Purpose Mic. Can You Recomend A Xlr Mic That Will Fit In The Xl2 On Cam Holder?
Thx In Advance

Hi. Getting a mic to fit the XL2's holder is hard as it is quite large. I use an ME66 and use a stip of foam to hold it in place. If possible, have your mic on a saparate stand so it doesn't pick up rumblings and noise caused by camera movement.
