Hi

I have a question regarding doing a multicam shoot with a HVX200 and a Canon XL1. Essentially I want to sync a Canon XL1 time code with the HVX200 so that it makes editing easier. We are planning on doing both running in standard def. and also using a film slate to clap at the start of the shoot for audio.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to do this most effectively?

Thanks in advance
Ian

Barry Green wrote up an article on syncing time code between the HVX and other cameras:

In order to succeed with this, you need to use free-running timecode on all cameras, and at least temporarily put the HVX into DV recording mode because it needs to be in the same mode as the camera supplying the timecode. If you want to shoot in HD with the HVX, you can switch it after syncing.

Thanks a lot for that! I guess I should have hunted around a bit more first.....

Only thing I noticed on that was the sync drift caused by switching back to camera mode. I wonder how bad it really is....oh well I guess nothings perfect at a prosumer level camera.
