HD footage to SD?

So, I just shot 15 hours of 1080/24p footage and I love it!

The client would like to watch the footage now, and I want to post it online. Does anybody have any experience exporting in Final Cut Pro?

It keeps reverting back to 4:3...

You should be able to right clip on the sequence then export using Quicktime conversion
Pick what settings you want it at, for online as a Quicktime I would use H264 and put what ever settings you want to compress the video and then for the video size for web
to keep it 16:9 you want to clip on the clip size tab then choose Custom
and use either, 640x360, 480x270 or 320x180
do not clip on the keep aspect tab.

which shows a convenient way of doing it with 720p footage.
Check it out. It should be pretty easy to adapt to your case.
