Hi,
I am buying an HVX200 and was wondering if any of the extended warranties are worth the money. I have looked into the MACK 4 year which seems to run about 200 dollars. I had one on my Canon GL2 which saved my but on the 4th year when the tape deck died but with the HVX200 I am not sure I will be using the tape deck much.

What is everyone else doing with reguards to warranties?

Thanks,
Tom

I bought a 2-year extended warranty with Repair Tech; I just felt it was cheap insurance compared to the price of the camera.

I'm always leary about extended warranties, tho. I had one for my laptop and when it came time to use it, I discovered they were out of business (as was the place I bought the laptop). Hopefully, MACK has a track record? Anyone out there have experience with either MACK or Repair Tech?

I have a Mack warranty, but that was before I started reading these boards. The value can vary depending on how fast you need your camera. I guess sending your camera out by mail can make for a slow turn-around.

The other thing to consider is if you are thinking of a mod, like Hydra, that voids the warranty. No sense in getting a warranty you can't use.

I have not had need to use warranty repair yet. Thankfully.
