I have some mixed footage 72024pn & 720p60.( From HVx200, mov created with Raylight)
If I set my time line for easy setup 23.98 when I add my 60p footage it only shows black but the audio plays, the 24pn footage plays fine.

If I set my time line for easy setup 60p, the opposite happens, the 60p plays fine and the 24pn shows black with audio.

Am I missing something, I am using FCP 6.01

If you're using FCP 6 why are you using raylight? I believe fcp 6 even 5.1 can import the p2 files directley. Have you tried to render the clips that are a different frame rate from the sequence? That's what I have to do and it works fine.

Wrong. FCP rewraps MXF into QuickTime. Raylight reads the MXF directly.

You really should not mix frame rates on a timeline. I think there is a great deal of misunderstanding about the FCP 6 mixed timeline new feature. This is much more about mixing codecs on a timeline than it is about mixing time base.

How can you even get FCP 6 to launch with 10.3.9? The most current version of the OS is 10.4.10. You definitely need to be at that most current rev. However, don't touch QT 7.2. Stay at 7.1.6

Because Raylight for the Mac does lots of things FCP6 doesn't. It's much faster to work with, and it preserves all the metadata, and it also imports clips that FCP itself fails to import. Raylight adds a lot to the FCP workflow.

Why is that? 7.2 buggy? I just updated my software and i'm at 7.2 now.

Thanks for the info. I guess I misunderstood that the mixed timeline is for different codecs and not for time base. Is there a way I can convert the 24pn to 60?
I have bout 40min of 60 and only about 1min of 24pn. My bad, my os ver is 10.4.9.

With the CMS software now able to read MXF's directly in any QT app, it will be an interesting comparison to compare with Raylight workflow.

QT 7.2 causes a number of conflicts, among them being disabling Flip4Mac .wmv export. There is a workaround but it involves transcoding to MPEG4 and then transcoding that MPEG4 to wmv. There are other issues that have been noted as well on the various support boards such as macfixit.com

Of course the CMS workflow requires a manual sync of video and audio, which Raylight does not.
