Hi all. How can I preview Hd footage on an external monitor say like an HDTV lcd in vegas? I've tried to use the firewire plus the hvx but it won't work and I think I read it somewhere that the hvx can't input and output HD content at the same time. So I used my old panny gs150 to hook up between the laptop and the tv, but the footage looks pretty bad to the point of defeating the purpose of previewing on an external monitor. Thirdly, I tried to hook up the lcd directly to the laptop since it has a computer input... but vegas won't recognize it. In the preview device preferences there's windows secondary display but when I select that option, I still get device unavailable.
What's the best way to hook up an external monitor to preview stuff you're working on in vegas? Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place but since it's HVX related.. I thought I would post it here.

I have vista home premium and would appreciate if someone can give me a step by step procedure on how to do this.
Thanks in advance!

You can only preview DV footage via firewire so that is why our HD doesn't look good. You need to hook up the TV to you computer via the monitor output. Get windows to recognize it under desktop > rightclick > properties.

Once Windows sees it there, choose secondary display in Vegas and it should output.
