I have a tape which has glitches all throughout. The client who hired (it was his camera) me wants me to go ahead and run the tapes onto a hard drive. My question is whether or not this will damage the heads on my playback deck.

i had the same problem about a month ago. i shot something then when i took it home to my download cam (not my shooting cam) it created a lot of glitches due the heads getting misaligned over time and usage. i bought a new down load cam the tape played it still had the glitches but new cam is fine the footage was at a loss but the tape wont damage the heads i hope that answers your question. when your done i would run a tape cleaner thru you download cam just incase.
