Hey all,
I have read that the advantage of using the import tool in final cut pro is that it supports clip spanning (from what I have gathered, this is when a clip spans over two different p2 cards and clip spanning is when the software combines the clip into one).
I have had a tough time finding if Raylight for mac supports clip spanning. I assume not since it processes each Content folder individualy, but thought maybe it will look at the last clip file on the p2 if both p2 content folders are vailable.
If not, you think this may be a future feature I could request on their site, or is it a waste since I can just edit the two clips together in final cut since they will be right next to each other?
Any thoughts would rule,
later all,
Tim

It does not join the clips right now but it does recognize spanned clips, so the metadata slate only appears on the first clip of the sequence (unless you have "Always slate" turned on). Clip joining will probably be added in the future.

How does this adversely affect workflow?

It would be nice if this was added for free, but right now, raylight is allowing me to see my already dumped footage on my laptop while on site, something that the panasonic backup field hard drive cannot do.
IT will be nice to get this for final cut, but I am just happy that I can keep the mfx files and still edit in final cut. Raylight is so fast, especially on my mac pro, clip spanning is not that much of an issue since the amount of time it takes to make the mxf files into shortcut .mov makes up for having to connect a few clips here and there.
Eveyone complains about the fs-100 not having clip spanning, but people seem to keep buying that device too. Honestly, with raylight, it makes way more sence to use p2 over the fs-100 since it is much easier to dump the footage onto the laptop than to connect the fs-100 to the laptop and disrupt filming, so p2 is begining to have more strengths than the fs-100, and with bigger capacities, eventually more people will prefer the p2's for their mobility and lack of setup.
