I recently uploaded a 4min short on www.triggerstreet.com. It was shot using an original DVX and a home-made 35mm adapter.
The film is entitled, Life Against Memory. Check it out. Thanks!

Nicely done. I loved the film, the shooting, the story, the titles. Tell me more about your 35mm rig. What did you use? It looks really clean.

Also, thanks for introducing me to that website.

You have to register with them.
It is a very long process. I gave up. They ask to many questions.

Do you have to movie some place else?

All the best

Looked great! Definitely worth watching again.
I'll have to ponder its meaning a bit.

As for your home-made 35mm adapter, can you share any pictures of the rig and details about it? Is it similar to the one used by marlathemovie, Mike Roberts, etc, as discussed in this forum?

Also, I'm curious which lenses you used.

i seen how you put that homade 35mm adapter on your dvx. i also have a dvx 100a and so i found the same konica lenz that you made your adapter with, but i don't quite understand how you put the rest of it together, where did you get the rest of the pieces to your adapter, all i have is the dvx and the konica 52mm f1.8 but none of the other stuff, ide appreciate it if you could elaborate a bit on how to put it together and what else i might need.

thanks...

On this page it shows how jwebb used magnets to flip the lcd image, could that hurt your camera, or would it be just fine?

WHOA!! TriggerStreet has probably the most intrusive member log-in procedure ever devised by man!

I am still waiting for my conformation email so I can actually WATCH this film after all of this nonsense.

Looks awesome, it really does. I liked your resistance to rack focusing every shot. If someone could explain everything involved in that 35 adapter on http://www.enormousapparatus.com/35adapter.htm I'd appreciate it greatly. While my technical expertise grows daily, it still isn't enough to decipher that jpg with the parts listing. As McCoy would say, I'm a director, not an AC! :P

Looks great. Somebody knows when *can I find information and pictures over "home made 35 mm. adapter". Some links please (web)?

James Webb, congratulations. What means "GG" (hoya UV - GG) and "condenser" (Vivitar CU + 4?

thanks a lot

That was pretty cool. Liked the shooting style (with the camera, although the rifle wasn't half bad, either). Looked marvelous.

Hey JWebb, are you a William S Burroughs fan...?

jeff: why don't make that & sell to our group?

Okay, so adding up what I think all of those parts are (assuming the "condenser" is a +4 diopter -- is it?), the cost is $253 from B&H, minus the lens, of course. Don't know how to get the two different spacer thicknesses, however. I just priced a generic UV filter for those (remove the glass). I'm going to have my still photography buddy look at this thing and see if he has any more insight. If we think we can do, I may try it with his Canon EOS lenses. Assuming I get some Christmas money, of course. ;D

Any other insights are appreciated -- especially from the post's originator! Hello???

I finally saw it. The depth of field was gorgeous, as were the shots and especially the pacing of the edits--to set you up for the sucker-punch.

I hope someone comes up with a similar hardware hack for the PanaAna 16:9 adapter, but that thing presents much more complex problems optically, I'm sure.

Very beautiful. From the first shot I was blown away(no pun intended) by the look.

Hi JWebb:

Awesome job, I really like your film. You show a lot of talent as a filmmaker. I just bought a DVX-100A and shot an episode of a popular national cable show with it, it's a great camera and I love shooting with it.

I am intrigued by your homemade lens solution, some more details on the jpegs on your website or some parts sources would be very appreciated by many of us. A very practical and workable solution it seems to obtain better, more filmic depth of field and lens control.

All the best,

Dan B

Richard Mellor over at DVinfo.net has a 35mm adapter he is in the finishing stages of completing which he plans on selling for $150 USD. He's using great parts too. It is a static adapter though so you will have some grain.

I'm working on a similar project but it deals with medium format lenses (this excellent idea was given to me by Brett Erskine. Thanks Brett!)
