Settings for Tape (not P2)

I am shooting on MiniDV cassette and not P2. I have shot the first three episodes and a lot of B-Roll at 480/60i at 4:3. Next year when the 32GB chips come out, I plan on converting to the P2 workflow.

I was considering changing to 16:9 now so that the aspect ratio of the show will be ready for the future. The show is currently on internet distribution and DVD and digital cable is a good possibility in the near future.

As for MiniDV, the choices seem to be 480/60i or 480/30p. Is one better than the other and should I go for 16:9 with MiniDV?

I avoid 480/60i on the HVX whenever possible; the camera does too much aliasing in that mode. If you like the look of 480/30p you'll get better results from that. And there's no reason not to shoot 16:9 on miniDV; if you want the 16:9 aspect ratio it's completely valid on the tape as well as on the cards.
