Could anyone offer some tips and possibly some settings ideas for shooting sd footage (that will end up b+w) on the hvx? I have used the hvx a few times but I have never shot sd on it before. Thanks.

I don't own an hvx, but I would just shoot sd and do the b+w in post.

Depending on the black and white you're going for (crushed blacks like Pi, or fluid midtones like 1930s films)...

Try B.Press gamma in the scene file settings if you want high contrast. It will crush your blacks a bit in camera and create a bit more contrast.

If you want more fluid midtones, go with Low gamma.

Turn the EVF to black and white thru the menu options as well and use it as a good idea of what your scene will look like in black and white in post.

Thanks for the tips. I'll be trying this out next week to get some test footage before the real shoot begins.
