looking in the garage and found a few things and made a shoulder mount, took 5 mins to build cost nothing and it works really well. i don't have a tripod so this should help some.

A little rough around the edges... but hey, that's what DIY is all about, right?

You have a DVX100 and not a tripod?

At least get yourself a simple photo tripod. No hand-held or shoulder mount support, or even the best steadicam, is a replacement for the steady position of a tripod or even the movements you can do with it.

haha yeah its really rough, if i spent a few hours on it i would be mad, but took me 5 min so no big deal, i usally rent a tripod if im working on a big project..$25 a weekend so not bad. so no worries and the rest of the time there is usally a object to set the camera on it kinda makes the shooting process an adventure not only do you have to find a good an creative shoot but you also have to find a good way to get it. and as far as the simple photo tripod i wouldn't trust on with the dvx on it and im pretty confident that i can create a better movement then something that cheap

Add some weights to the back of it, and some foam under the shoulder part. This should help with balancing and take some weight of your hand, which will let you shoot longer without fatigue.
Just some thoughts.

Yeah some pipe insulation would probably wrap around the shoulder part to pad it a bit.
