xl2 firewire?

my xl2 is not being read by my mac. Any suggestions?

Hi.
Check your firewire cable - maybe get a new one.
Make sure you haven't burnt out your firewire card in the Mac or camera (The Mac and camera should both be off when they are connected. Then turn on your camera, then the Mac.
There have been talks of an issue between the XL2 and FCP. Although I haven't experienced it myself (they work well together for me). Some people get a cheap camera to transfer footage to save wear and tear on their main camera.
Oh, and make sure your XL2 is in VCR mode to capture the footage.
