If I charge the DVX cam battery the "night before" a shoot. Can I count on the battery holding its' "full charge" over night....or will it discharge a considerable amount.
My 5600 battery takes about 2 hrs for full charge...is this normal?
Thanks,
Jeff

I good battery has very little self discharge, about 2%/month. If your battery takes 2 hours to charge from fully discharged to fully charged state, it is no good, lost much of its capacity. Should take about 5 hours on a Panasonic charger.

thanks... good to know.
When I said two hours, Im sure it was not fully discharged seeing it only loses 2% a month.
Does this mean then that a partially charged battery, does not discharge when put in the panasonic charger and the re-charge?

the point of a battery is to store a charge for later use. if you put in a full charge on a healthy battery you can expect consistent (albeit declining) results over the life of the battery

Correct, a standard Panasonic charger does not discharge, only charges/tops off. If your gas tank is 14 gallons, and it has 10 in it, you only add 4 while filling up, and it takes much less time than filling up an empty one...
