What is the weight of the HPX500 inclusive the lens/external mic/matbox. I want to buy a tripod/head for a HVX200 but it should be future proof if I once have earned enough money to be able to get the HPX. What weight/specifications should a tripod/head combination have to fulfill this requirement????

You'd have to weigh all the components separately. An HPX500 weighs about 4 kilograms or 9 pounds. Then you have to add the specific lens, battery, and all other accoutrements to it.

I use the cartoni focus and its just barely enough to support my rig properly - i think its max is 22 lbs

Maybe a more concrete question : will the Sachtler DV8/100 SB + Sachtler ENG 2 CF do the job for the hpx500 with mattbox and external mic or is it still to light ???

What stabilizer rig would you reccommend for a camera of this weight? I was looking into a flyer, but now I'm thinking I may have to go bigger... comments appreciated!

Cees - technically the Sachtler DV8 will handle up to 26#'s but with the HPX500 your COG (center of gravity) is considerably higher which reduces that rating fairly significantly. That being the case, while it may work, you are really going to be pushing the limits of what this head is really intended for. Ideally, you would want to either bump up a bit in the Sachtler line or look at one of the Miller Arrow 40 systems or the Panther X15 system which are both in the same price range as the system you mentioned but can handle a heavier load.

Vocas adviced me the Sachtler video15 SB with ENG 2 CF sticks (for 4500 euro ex.tax). What do you you think about this advice ????

Flyer would be pushed to support the 500 in most configurations. You'd probabaly want a bigger rig like the Archer.

Mikko, Smooth Shooter (gc 4000) should be out of the question, right?

Definatly. It could barly hold the body alone.
