How important or what are the benefits of the DVX book and MB software? I got my cam off ebay and did not recieve these items. The camera seems great. Did I go wrong? Also I noticed the viewfinder back is a dark grey and not black like we have at school and it says DVX100BP on the box. Do you think I got a fake? Please someone respond, thanks.

On this subject... (and I hate to bring it up, considering the big harrangue that went on a couple of months ago)..... but how long should it take to receive the Barry Green book and the Magic Bullet software? I did buy my DVX-100B from Spec-Comm.... printed out the online forms, and mailed them in with the SKU codes cut from the side of the box....
It's been well over a month now.... should I be concerned?

Taylor, I'm in the same situation as you. I sent in the forms late-April, and still have not received the book or software. Others on this forum who have waited many months have eventually received theirs, so I'm not particularly worried about it.
Superfilmer, your school's "DVX" may actually be a DVC80. There is no DVX that has a black LCD cover. Only the DVC80 has that. Based on reader responses on this forum, the book is certainly worth reading. But, you do not absolutely need it to put the DVX to good use. I like to think of the book as a shortcut. You'll eventually get to know all the stuff it describes, but reading it gets you the knowledge much faster.

Thanks MacWorm. So what is your take on the Magic Bullet software that everyone gets with NEW cameras. What I read it sounds impressive, but I am not sure if I need it if I have the new Final Cut Studio 2?

It's worth having. You will find it useful in many ways. You can totally change what your picture looks like. You will be satisfied. I think they have a trial version, you should check it out! Goggle Magic Bullet Trial or something of that sort

The book it worth its weight...
MB is great for starting out, but as you get better with color grading I think you will gravitate away from it. I know I did.
