I like it!
One suggestion: The part where the branches grow seems a little static. I think it would make it a little more dynamic if you'd grow individual leaves and make it look as if they pop out.

I would use the word spastic instead of static. The ornaments near the letters C and D jitter back and forth, not smooth. Also, it would help if the timing of the reveals were less symetrical, this may be what Ferdi is talking about. Check out Jayse's tutorial, "Making things Grow", on the Creative Cow to tighten up this animation.

Yeah, the masking revealing the branches is a little rough. Parts get revealed before the previous piece is revealed. I would also feather your mask a little...Jayse's tutorial is a good starter.

I'm not sure using your name in that tiled pattern and having it also pop out in the middle was a good choice...you now have 2 typographic elements fighting for attention and there is less impact when your name in 3d pops out. I would explore the idea from a different conceptual pov and see what can be done to seperate the two.

I saw the rough mask reveal too, but people looking at the ae forum are proabably in the only 1% that will see it anyways. Good work. I like it alot.

Well, considering this is for his reel, and reels are generally only viewed by professionals and people that are interested in hiring him, I wouldn't count on that "1%" figure. Yeah, your girlfriend or parents might not notice it, but when someone making a decision on which artist to hire, they'll notice it and that's where it counts.:)

the fact that is was put together quickly i think its good. And i agree with the prev note that said to check out Jayse's tutorial. It goes into depth of how to accomplish the look your going for. Nicely done though. You can find Jayse in the Cow page. he is one of the main guys there amongst others for AE work.

I'd add some easing on the first camera move where the background seems to jerk to a halt. Smooth it out a little.
