I dropped my new dvx100b on the hard floor. I broke some of the plastic around the camera. But everything seems to be working okay.
Are DVX's meant to be dropped and used in a rugged environment?
I also lost one of the XLR caps, does anyone know where to get another one?

Well, like any piece of expensive and loved equiptment, care should always be taken. But I must admit the DVX is one strong piece of machinery. I droped mines 2 times and almost had 2 heart attacks.
Lucky for me, I just had some minor physical damage, but the camera itself never skipped a beat.
As for repairs and such get in touch with these guys, http://www.spec-comm.com they're pretty awesome! and their also a trusted sponsor on this site, do a search to read more about them here.

yeah after I dropped mine, i felt so crappy all day. dropped yours 2 times!!! I don't think I'll ever let that happen again, when I dropped mine I was working hard and had many things to do, but it will never happen again, because that dvx drop put a deep scar on my soul. I will remember forever, btw, thanks for the repair site.

First shoot with my HVX I had the 6foot1inch guitar player from the band I was shooting fall off of a monitor and his guitar landed right on the camera. I actually kept the shot in the video, the hvx didn't even drop a frame and it looks like an expensive stunt. Not a scratch on the camera.
