My primary reason for using FCP is to edit Music Videos. Has anyone edited any on FCP? I guess the question I really want to ask is, is it hard to sync up the master audio to the video so that my videos don't look like that old Black Belt Theater TV show.

I am going to be editing other projects other than music videos but for now MV's is the main thing I am dealing with.

It's actually quite easy to do this. Just put your master audio on a track and lock it down. Then do what's called a match-point edit (check your manual for HOW to do this).

Essentially what this allows you to do is set a marker on clip (audio, video, whatever), set a marker on a another clip where it corresponds with the point you marked on your first clip, perform the match point edit, and the two points are synced up. This should allow you to sync up all your edits to your master audio.

Also, I'm not sure how much experience you've had shooting music videos, but if you use the master audio while shooting (AND record sound on set), then it will be all the more easier to perfectly sync up your video to your master audio track. This is because once you perform your match-point edit, you can play through the edit and hear your master audio track AND your recorded sound, and you'll easily be able to hear whether the two are in sync. Of course, sometimes the talent doesn't always lipsync perfectly, so further tweaking may be necessary.

All in all, it's very easy and efficient to edit MVs in FCP. Enjoy!
