I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow to start at Full Sail on Monday. Hope to meet those of you in the area once I get settled down there.
Yeahhhhh, no more long winters!

I keep having these recurring nightmares where I move back to central Florida... then I wake up and thank God I'm still in Los Angeles.
Anyway, congrats on the Full Sail thing. :)

You really don't want to spend too much time with Chad, Dean. It it WAY TOO corrupting for a young man like you...:beer:

Look forward to seeing you down there. I'm not looking forward to the drive down today but I am really excited about getting settled in and starting school. Found a great townhouse to live in and I like the area.

I'm more than half way done with my Bachelors here at Full Sail, and as a new student, there are a few things i'll let you know right off the bat, so your ready.
1. Put 150% into everything. This may sound obvious, but once you get here, you may get the idea that because everyone is taught the same thing, that you shouldnt put more effort into it, because you all have the same benefits. NOT TRUE- working harder to impress the instructors and teachers opens up doors for outside work, as well as being able to use school gear (which they will say is not allowed.)
2. Don't give up. The program starts with quite a few "gen ed" classes that are pretty dull. Alot of people drop out during this period, but know...It gets better. Much better.
3. Show up earlier than you think you should. Parking on campus is rediculously bad. Usually you'll have to walk a little.
4. Network with other students. Remember, you are going to a media arts school, talk to your classmates, and find out what they are interested in, then start shooting!
5. Be a filmmaker, not a film fan. As you will undoubtedly realize, most of your classmates will be people who like to watch movies...Not make them. Find the kids with drive, and experience, and hook up with them to work on projects. Your class will start large, (mine was around 100) but by the 10th month or so, will dwindle down dramatically, (mine is around 50 now) as they realiize this industry really isn't what they expected.
If you have any other questions about the school, or FL, PM me.

Thanks for the heads up Andrew. I was kinda wondering about parking over there. When I went for a few visits it didn't look like there was a whole lot close. As for students who are more talk than action, I agree. I am actually going back to school for my third degree. While in the military I got a degree in Air Field Management ( not my choice ). After I was medically retired I went back for a degree in computer science and I saw exactly the same thing with some students when it came to projects. I arrived yesterday and am trying to get things somewhat set up. Hope to see you there.
