I just checked out this site for slow motion effects & the "matrix" comes to mind when I looked at this demo :o
How do they do that effect ?
Isit really possible with this plugin ? :P
If you're talking about the "frozen 3d pan" effect, then the only way I know of to do that involves still cameras placed around the subject and simultaneously (or sequentially) taking pictures. Where the Retimer product most likely comes into play is the the smoothing out of the transitions between the still images as well as controlling the speed of the pan. Retimer creates new frames using already existing frames as reference, so it would seem that it is well suited to smooth such effects out. Unfortunately, I do not believe the bulk of the effect is made possible with the plugin.
BTW, it's a very good plugin nonetheless.

Piggy backing on that same sort of question. Are there any effects plug ins on the market that we can use with FCP? I mean I like what comes with FCP but more options would be cool too.
What effects do you mean? There are a number of FCP filter packages, not to mention that you can use a great many of After Effects plugins within FCP. Just Google for the type of effect you want.

the "retimer "plugin is very similar to "twixtor" in functionality, and results, although realtimer is easier to use. similar -less intuitive and pricey alternatives include "timemaster 2.0" and dynapel's "motion perfect" .
"the matrix" 2+3 the wachowski bros took akin to using 5 hd cameras in a circle around the talent rather than the stills. and due to more powerful time/frame interpolation software, they were able to pull off the same effect . most of these programs have a trial download that inserts a logo or watermark into the output, so you can try them out , and see which ones will suit your needs.
I forgot to mention that there's also the morphing route you could take to achieve this effect. It's basically the same idea; morph from one frame to the next to smooth out the transition between them. There are free programs available such as WinMorph or the previous mainstay (though no longer in the development), Elastic Reality.
Given the resources, I would go with a retiming plugin as it is more straightforward and good results are possible with less tweaking of the software.

This Matrix effect, is this similiar to that effect they used in the SuperBowl Half time show a few years ago? It looked like they had a camera flying around the entire stage in a complete circle but spinning pretty fast. I later read an article about that effect and read that they had a number of cameras placed all around the stage. I can't remember exactly what they did to get that look but it was really cool to see! I wish I still had it on tape!
