Hello...

Does the XL2 have an in VF display for focus, like the DVX's 'MF67', for example, indicating where the focus is set, making focus pulls and racks easier?

Also, does the XL2 have a syncro scan function where you can manually tweak the shutter speed, like the DVX's syncro scan function?

Thanks so much.

I would love to hear the answer to this... I wish someone would respond.

Well, the answer is no to both. However, you do have the ability (depending on the lens you have) to do rack focus as well as zooms by setting a preset and then pushing a button to have it go back to that settings. I don't use them much because they jump almost instantly from one to the other and don't really work for me.

I shoot the XL2 almost entirely manually unless I'm on a glidecam or something where I can't touch the camera. I love my XL2 but to say I hate the view finder and focus on the camera would be an understatement.

Have fun.

I agree with Glenn, the XL2 is great, but the EVF is less than perfect. I do successful racking focus and other shallow DOF shots with the standard EVF and 20x lens. It doesn't work in all situations (if you're too close to the subject, zooming in and out may reset the focus). You have to zoom in to focus accurately, so I don't do shots zoomed in 100%. I always zoom out a little (to give me the ability to focus more accurately). I either mark the lens - which works remarkably well or use the ZR1000. With the remote I use clicks for racking focus. 5 clicks in = starting point, 5 clicks out = end point.

Hope this helps,
