I will be picking up the 500 in a few weeks and want to get a better lens than offered up in the packages. I was thinking in the 30 grand range. I was looking at the Canon cinema lenses. I am more concerned with the short end of the lens than telephoto. Any body have any suggestions.

That's great news, PB! Do you have the camera now?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'd like to know the cine lens options too.

Yes. I saw those Canon Cinema lenses. They seem fairly sweet (but expensive at $20,000 a piece). So... what kind of stuff/who is using that kind of set up?

I have been shooting tests with the 500. I am just waiting to sign a contract with a client before I pull the trigger. Hoepfully monday I will be transferring the funds. I wussed out of the cinema lenses, but have decided to upgrade to this http://www.fujinon.com/Broadcast/Product.aspx?cat=26&id=170
the cinema lens would be nice, but just could not serve all my needs.
The package lenses look pretty good, the price is fantastic, but they breath just WAY too much for how I like to shoot.
I have an order on standby, that made the regional Panasonic guy very chummy with me. Now I just have to get the client to sign the damn contract. So very, very close.

It's good to know that a camera of that quality will be so close to where I live. hehe:D

And you sir are welcome to come play with it any time you like. Although it may cost you one of the three thousand bottles of wine you have in your house.
