Hello,

I am from a film background and have always shot at 24p on my DVX100. Now I'm going to shoot a TV pilot next week on HVX200's and since it is more of a live comedy standup thing rather than a narrative (Think reality shows, news shows, home improvement shows, etc) I was wondering if I wouldn't be more in line with "normal" TV practices to shoot 1080 60i rather than 24p. There won't be much movement, but I know sports, news, and many things are 60i although I personally usually prefer the 24p look. I'm wondering if anyone out there deals with actual TV station programming and knows what is most acceptable.

I'm keeping in mind that I'm pitching this as a production that is shot on HD, although it may wind up being used for SD broadcast (if I'm lucky that is). And like I said, I personally would go with 24p.

if you want, or expect it to be broadcast, then definitely do 60i.
other wise you have to convert or have brodcaster convert to 60i, but then it might look off.

You could always go 30p. Fits into 60i nicely and is kind of viewed as halfway in between the two.

By "Convert" to 60i I assume you mean a 2/3 pullup - of course this is not a problem. Oncec again, standard stuff when working with a DVX100 in 24 mode. But once it is 24 frames within a 60i format (Same asa feature film would be) then are there an asthetic issues that any of you have come across where broadcasters are against this format?

30P is a nice compromise but it will limit you to NTSC markets if that matters

IMO - 30P is asking for a post nightmare if you ever need to go to another format or system. 24 or 60i are your most viable choices.

Now which of those is the best choice for your situation ... I have no idea.
